Meet Andy & Tamara Totman

The People Behind Totman Real Estate

For Andy and Tamara Totman, real estate has always been about more than properties. It’s about people, relationships, and the places we choose to call home. They believe where you live becomes the center of your world—the backdrop for everyday moments, important milestones, and new beginnings. Finding the right home isn’t simply a transaction; it’s an opportunity to establish roots, create lasting memories, and build long-term financial stability.

Their story began on opposite sides of the country. Andy grew up between Malibu, California, and Cape Cod, Massachusetts, while Tamara was raised in San Diego, California. In 1990, Andy moved to San Diego, where the two eventually built a life and business together, opening and operating a yoga studio for more than a decade. Through that experience, they developed a shared appreciation for community, meaningful relationships, and helping people navigate personal growth and life transitions.

After selling their studio, both Andy and Tamara found their way into real estate—a natural progression that allowed them to combine their entrepreneurial experience, love of working with people, and appreciation for the importance of home.

Tamara brings a particularly thoughtful perspective to the business, supported by a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a Master’s degree in Psychology. Known for her compassion, ability to listen, and understanding of the emotions involved in buying or selling a home, she brings those qualities to the shared philosophy behind Totman Real Estate. Together, Andy and Tamara balance empathy with strategic thinking and strong negotiation skills. They believe that protecting their clients’ interests requires both heart and precision, and that the relationships built along the way are every bit as important as the results.

Together, Andy and Tamara share a commitment to providing an approachable, informed, and personalized real estate experience. They understand that every client has a different story, whether purchasing a first home, selling a longtime family property, relocating, or investing in the future. Their goal is to make those transitions feel as seamless and low-stress as possible while ensuring their clients feel heard, supported, and confidently represented.

In late 2019, the couple relocated to Richmond, Virginia, to be closer to family. They quickly fell in love with the area’s rich history, distinctive neighborhoods, natural beauty, and strong sense of community. Today, they are proud to call Greater Richmond home and enjoy helping others discover everything the region has to offer.

Family remains at the heart of their lives. Their daughter Devin and grandsons Alden and Wyatt live nearby, while their son Sage, who serves in the U.S. Navy, lives in Washington state with his growing family, including their newest granddaughter, Daisy.

When they aren’t working with clients, Andy and Tamara enjoy traveling, staying active, spending time outdoors, and exploring new places. Their shared love of yoga, art, design, the beach, and the mountains continues to inspire them. Whether discovering a great coffee shop, visiting an art gallery, enjoying live music, or simply spending time with friends and family, they appreciate the experiences and connections that make life meaningful.
